How to add a filter command

 

The basic H2OS filters library is installed with the product, and it is maintained (new commands are added) by the Downloads page.

 

The H2OS Filter Commands library can be customized by adding, removing and changing filter commands. Because you can make changes to these filters, H2OS maintenance will not unilaterally replace commands already installed.

 

From time to time, as we add new general purpose filters to the filters library, we will distribute them via the COMMANDS, FILTERS option on the DOWNLOADS page.

 

If you have a favorite filter command that you use and would like to share with others, please send it to us

 

To add a filter command

 

1. Click the FILTERS command

 

 

2. Click the ADMIN command on the Filters Commands Library screen  

 

 

 

3. Click OK and the Filter Command Edit screen will appear

4. Click the ADD command

 

and a new row will appear on the bottom of the screen, into which the new filter can be typed
 

 

5. Click in the Description cell for the new filter, and enter a description of the filter

 

6. Click in (or tab to) the Filter Command cell for the new filter and enter the filter itself.

 

 

 

 

The Customer DB Fields listbox on the right side of the screen contains the names of all fields in the customer record. You can use this as a reference for field names when constructing filter commands. When you click on a field name, a brief description of the field will appear in the textbox below.

 

7. When done, click CLOSE

 

 

To test and use your new Filter command

 

1. Click the FILTERS command

 

2. Locate your Filter command by scrolling until you find it, or use the SEARCH command to find it using  a keyword in it's name. Since our new filter command has the word JONE in it, we can use it as a search keyword. For example:

 

 

Pressing ENTER brings up the result screen with the newly entered filter

 

 

 

You can now check the SEL checkbox and click TEST FILTER to test it (and view the selected records), or you can click SET FILTER to put the filter in effect. When the filter is in effect and you return to the main H2OS screen, only customer records matching the filter will be displayed.

 

To turn the filter off and view all customer records, click the FILTERS command again, and reply to the message that will appear stating you have a filter in effect and whether to leave it in effect or clear it.
